E dahauspresents the “Shalimar” project in Kyoto, Japan: a mixed-use development combining retail and residential functions across a 751.2 m² lot.
Designed with an RC-structure, the concept of “Private Vertical Housing as a Social Condenser” guides the architecture: private living spaces stacked above active retail zones, creating a dynamic urban layering.
The building emphasizes thoughtful spatial relationships — how residents move between levels, how public and private zones engage, and how community is formed in dense contexts. Materials and articulation reflect a refined modern palette, while open connectivity and transparency invite engagement without sacrificing intimacy. Shalimar stands as a bold synthesis of city living and human-scaled residence: a place where functionality meets design, and where social life and privacy are held in balance.
